The question this article raises is one that has been on my mind for quite some time now, and I have decided to present the question to you, my fellow initiate, to also think about it and probably come up with your own resolution.
Concerning the question: could technology be regarded as an exhibition of materialism? I am forced, on one hand, to say that yes, technology is an exhibition of materialism, but on another hand, I am forced to think that it can be different.
What propels me to think partly of the former is because of the obvious, direct involvement of matter in the development of technology. But even this is superficial, however it becomes concrete when one considers that currently, technology is conceptually based on physical science.
Thus, one is forced to think that the current situation which places technology as a materialistic exhibit due to its conceptual basis on the physical laws of the universe can be different from what it is, only if we can change the conceptual basis of technology to a metaphysical one.
Today, technology is developed or designed based on physical science, which is materialistic at a conceptual level. So, the conceptual basis of today’s technologies is material and this is what should be critically examined in order to arrive at a holistic answer to the question that this article raises.
To consider that technology is an exhibition of materialism only because of its development from matter is to be superficial, non-conceptual, and lacking in the understanding of the metaphysical origins of matter.
So, I uphold that technology is an exhibition of materialism only as it is the condition today and as it refers to the conceptual basis of technology on physical science. Change the conceptual form of technology from that of physical science to that of metaphysical science and the exhibition of technology changes correspondingly.
In other words, I judge a technology, whether it is material or spiritual based on the nature of the science that produced it. This is to say that there is a strong connection between the nature of the science in practice and the technology in production.
Why some of us may not think so much of this, something to consider is that there are certain technologies that one cannot consider possible or imagine without the science in practice revealing that they are possible.
We have to hold on to this as we have come to the end of physical science, and though technology is fast expanding, there are some technologies and many more that will become possible only because of the new metaphysical science that has come.
And so we expect technology to become an exhibition of spirituality in this new age. Technology will make new strides that can only be on the account of the new metaphysical science that has come. Materialism will become abolished from our thoughts and also from how we explain the operations of technology.
Therefore, whether a technology is material or not does not just depend on its easily adjudged physical constitution but on its operation based on physical or metaphysical principles.
These metaphysical principles are what will inevitably make us see technology as an exhibition of spirituality. This is important, and with regards to the physical constitution of technology since it is made from matter, we must understand that matter, in the true sense, has a spiritual origin from the upper air and from the higher metaphysical principles of the universe.
And as such, matter is not an evidence of materialism. Materialism in its actual and critical sense is conceptual, it is a philosophy, a worldview, and should be seen as such.
Whether technology is material or spiritual depends on the mind that observes it. And with regards to the manifestation of matter, one must always remember the spiritual origin of matter.
This article brings to us the need for a complete spiritual view of the world. Technology would in this post-modern age be seen as an exhibition of spirituality. This is because we now understand the spiritual laws of the universe and how they manifest and govern the world around us.
In physics and contrary to what the layman will think, we don’t just say that the world is material or physical because we can see it with our eyes and feel it with our other senses, but because we know the physical laws that govern and constitute the universe.
The examination of technology or of the world, whether they are material or physical, is on a real scientific basis and it is more subtle and conceptual than we think.
Thus, we could so far say that the world is physical because we could present the physical laws of the universe, and describe the universe in a physical way.
This is the one important legacy of Isaac Newton. He taught us that the universe is a physical place, and due to this, we have always seen technology as an exhibition of materialism.
But all of this is already changing with post-modern physics, which has revealed to us the metaphysical laws of the universe, thus showing that technology is an exhibition of spirituality. We can now describe the universe in a metaphysical way and this is the new way to follow.
In addition, the revelation of the spiritual laws of the universe now leads to the understanding of the mind and its operations. So I foresee a time in the nearest future when the mind will be engaged to accomplish some of the feats that we today depend on technology to do.
This accomplishment in the nearest future will make it clear how extricated we have become from materialism and all its inclinations. The mind will even take active, central stage even more than matter or technology.
There is no doubt that at this point in the future, the practical aspects of the new science would not be adjudged as an exhibition of materialism but of spirituality.
Mind will take profound practical precedence over matter and technology will have a new definition. This and a whole lot more are bound to happen as we see that technology is only superficially adjudged as an exhibition of materialism because of its material constitution.
But knowing underneath that the operations of technology are spiritual and that matter has a mystical origin.
When the conceptual origin of technology becomes spiritual, technology also becomes an exhibition of spirituality. It’s all about the mind and the recognition of the first hermetic principle which states that “the universe is mental.”
And as I have said, the new spiritual basis of technology is bound to increase and multiply what is practically possible. We would accomplish great practical feats or scientific miracles as a result of the new spiritual basis of technology.
And in conjunction with the expanded possibilities of technology is the assisted and even central role of the mind. This is as man interacts with the universe in a more direct manner that reflects the mental nature of all things.
So, for two reasons presented in this article, we cannot continue to associate technology with materialism, as many now do and think. The first is because matter has a mystical origin, and the second is because the spiritual laws of the universe are now what underlie the operations of technology. These weren’t the case before.
Until next time,
I will be here.
