Introduction: The Classical Law of Conservation of Energy

In today’s physics, there is a cornerstone law called the law of conservation of energy. The law of conservation of energy is an inseparable and fundamental law of both classical and modern physics.

However, post-modern physics is giving us a new and more encompassing understanding of the law of conservation of energy, and thus of energy itself. This new understanding of the law of conservation of energy is what I have set out to discuss in this article.

Now, in classical and also in modern physics, the law of conservation of energy is simply stated thus:

  • Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be converted from one form to another — the classical law of conservation of energy

The above is the law of conservation of energy as it is supposed to apply in the universe which is assumed to be a closed system. This assumption that the universe is a closed system remains implicit throughout this article.

While the above presentation of the law of conservation of energy suffices to an extent, post-modern physics now informs us that it is incomplete without the consideration of a very important factor which arises due to the qualitative nature of the universe.

What is this important factor? The important factor neglected by the classical law of the conservation of energy is the two forms of energy in the universe. If you are familiar with this blog, then you must have come across some of my articles on the two forms of energy in the universe.

The two forms of energy are what obviously leads to the two conservation laws of energy in the universe. The two forms of energy are the energy in Joules and the energy in Joules/s2.

This new insight about the two forms of energy in the universe is very important in confronting the unaccountable and supposedly mysterious energy density of the universe and especially the nature of dark energy among others.

A cursory glance at the classical law of conservation of energy shows that it doesn’t recognize the two forms of energy, and even the form of energy it explicitly describes is the energy in Joules and it doesn’t mention anything about the energy in Joules/s2.

How do these two forms of energy apply in the universe? The energy in Joules is the form of energy that applies in the macro world of large bodies existing outside the atom, while the energy in Joules/s2 is the form of energy that applies in the micro world or atomic world of particles.

The First Post-modern Law of Conservation of Energy

Therefore, we have the conservation of energy in Joules which applies outside the atomic world to ponderable (non-charged) bodies. No matter the transformation of energy that occurs outside the atomic world and with respect to ponderable bodies, it can only be in Joules and not in Joules/s2.

This brings us to the first post-modern law of conservation of energy in Joules which simply states that:

  1. Outside the atomic world, energy in Joules can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another.

The above law of conservation of energy is the first of its kind in physics. This emerging new knowledge is encompassing and I want you to have it for coming to this blog, and for becoming a part of the new metaphysical science.

The energy in Joules is the form of energy known and experienced in the macro world of ponderable (non-charged) bodies. This distinct form of energy in Joules coupled with the other new form of energy in Joules/s2 experienced inside the atomic world complete our understanding of energy.

In absolute relativity, when certain quantities of mechanics are preserved like the 4-momentum and 5-momentum, they are always accompanied by the conservation of energy in Joules.

It is important that you now understand that 4-momentum and 5-momentum are absolute quantities that only apply outside the atomic world and relative to non-charged bodies. Both absolute quantities are accompanied by the same form of energy, which is the energy in Joules.

N. B: The 4-momentum and the 5-momentum are absolute quantities because they are founded or derived from absolute space and time, and not from relative space and time like the momentum of classical and modern physics.

It can even be presented as a general rule that absolute momentum in whatever form it may appear is always accompanied by energy in Joules. This relationship between momentum and energy in Joules or between the conservation of momentum and the conservation of energy in Joule is very important.

This momentum-energy-in-Joules relationship cannot be over-emphasized, and you will learn more about it when you begin to grasp the technical aspects of post-modern physics or the new conceptual framework of absolute relativity.

The first law of conservation of energy in Joules which now only applies outside the atomic world shows us the peculiarity of the energy in Joules which we had formerly thought applied both inside and outside the atomic world.

This implies that post-modern physics gives us the privilege of re-discovering of the energy in Joules and the exclusivity of the first law of conservation of energy in Joules to the macro world is a new understanding of energy in Joules. This should not be overlooked.

The Second Post-modern Law of Conservation of Energy

In the atomic world, we have the conservation of energy in Joules/s2 which applies inside the atomic world to the motion of electrical (charged) bodies. No matter the transformations of energy that occurs inside the atomic world and with respect to electrical bodies, it can only be in Joules/s2 and not in Joules.

This brings us to the second post-modern law of conservation of energy in Joules/s2, which simply states that:

     2.  Inside the atomic world, energy in Joules/s2 can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another.

The above law of conservation of energy holds only in the atomic world of particles, it doesn’t hold outside the atomic world, and as already shown, outside the atomic world, what holds is the law of conservation of energy in Joules.

The energy in Joules/s2 is the form of energy experienced inside the atomic world. All the charged bodies or particles created in our particle accelerators experience the energy in Joules/s2, even the particles present in cosmic rays and they do not experience the energy in Joules.

We are living in a universe that has two forms of energy! I want you to come to this new post-modern understanding among others about the cosmos. Also, just like absolute momentum (in its two forms) is associated with energy in Joules, so is absolute force associated with energy in Joules/s2

Absolute force is accompanied by energy in Joules/s2. I may have to discuss these two fundamental associations in the universe as a separate article. This second conservation of energy in Joules/s2 is what I refer to whenever I am talking about energy in the atomic world. What we call energy in Joules is alien to atomic particles and to the atomic world in general.

I want you to let this new understanding settle in your mind. It will illuminate you about the atomic world, a world modern physicists confess that we cannot understand. This is a lie. Crucial Discussion

Let’s discuss a little. When we talk about the big bang as the explosive birth of matter and energy, one is now tempted to ask, which form of energy? This question would have been unnecessary without the discoveries of post-modern physics.

During the big bang, if it is true, two forms of energy would have been birthed and not one which is the popular energy in Joules. The big bang must have also resulted in the birth of energy in Joules/s2.

So, considering fact that modern big bang theory does not give any account of the second form of energy in the universe or the energy of the atomic world, one is induced to wonder what other important component of the universe is missing from the big bang theory.

The big bang theory and its supposition of a singularity at the beginning of the universe are being rejected by post-modern physics, and are now being replaced by a simpler model which denies the existence of a singularity at the beginning of the universe. These two laws of conservation of energy raise questions that cannot be answered by the big bang model. The big bang model applies the energy in Joules indiscriminately to ponderable and electrical bodies, ignoring the qualitative nature of the universe.

This criticism also extends to modern quantum mechanics which applies the classical law of conservation of energy to the atomic world. This is wrong and does not align with the truth.

This oversight, in addition to other factors, have prevented us from understanding the atomic world. We have for the past 100 years being hitting against this seemingly insurmountable barrier of understanding in quantum mechanics. This should no longer be the situation of fundamental science, we can understand the universe.

Post-modern physics brings us face to face with the subtleties of the universe. In other eras of science, we have been blind to the inner operations of the universe, but in this era, we see the universe clearly.

The two laws of conservation of energy show us how the macro universe is different from the micro universe, while in some way maintaining the underlying harmony between both realms of the cosmos.

Furthermore, the two laws of conservation of energy are related to the two relative essences of light in the universe. Remember that light travels at a constant speed outside the atom but accelerates inside the atom.

The first essence of light as a wave with constant speed outside the atomic world is related to the first law of conservation of energy, while the second essence of light as a wave that accelerates inside the atomic world is related to the second law of conservation of energy.

Bringing the above together we then have two profound energy equations of light in post-modern physics, one for the macro world of ponderable bodies and the other for the micro world of electrical bodies or atoms. These two energy equations have been applied in this article.

These two laws of conservation of energy are very important because they emanate from the qualitative nature of the universe and they help us understand the nature of dark energy. The two laws of conservation of energy especially the second law reveal to us a form of energy we did not know existed in the universe.

We are now having a new understanding of energy from a deeper foundation of science. Also, I want to let you know that mass and energy are no longer the most fundamental materials of the universe.

We have now gone deeper to realize another quantity more fundamental than energy, and this quantity or essence is the base content of mass and of energy. This base essence is inertia. The understanding of inertia and its varied forms produced the two laws of conservation of energy.

Now we know what energy is made of! Is this not surprising, considering the fact that we have all formerly conceived of energy as the primary content of the cosmos? This is no longer the case, as a paradigm shift has come.

The more we understand inertia, the more we will understand mass and energy in their varied forms and manifestations. Inertia is an essence more fundamental than mass and energy and it is the basic content of the universe. So, “if you seek to find the secrets of the universe, [go farther], think in terms of [inertia]…”

Like I have said, this deeper understanding of inertia has produced the two laws of conservation of energy discussed in this article, and which I will like to state again:

  1. Outside the atomic world, energy in Joules can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another. 
  2. Inside the atomic world, energy in Joules/s2 can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another.

These above two laws of conservation of energy are most true and they establish fully our understanding of energy and of the harmony between the atomic world and the non-atomic world.
